The Gran Teatro La Fenice<\/strong>, located in the heart of Venice<\/strong>, is one of the most prestigious opera houses in the world. Opened in 1792<\/strong> designed by architect Giannantonio Selva<\/strong>, it has been the stage for world premieres of legendary composers such as Giuseppe Verdi, Gioachino Rossini and Vincenzo Bellini<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theater owes its name to the mythological phoenix, a symbol of rebirth, a fate that has deeply marked its history. The Phoenix was in fact destroyed by two fires: the first in 1836<\/strong>, followed by a quick restoration, and the second, in 1996<\/strong>, which resulted in its total destruction. The reconstruction project, guided by the motto “As it was, where it was,”<\/strong> aimed to restore the theater to its original splendor by faithfully reconstructing every detail, including the precious historic floors<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Disastrous Fire of 1996 and Reconstruction.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On the night of January 29, 1996<\/strong>, a devastating fire broke out inside the theater, due to an act of arson. Within minutes, the flames spread rapidly, destroying sets, furniture and the entire wooden structure. By morning, only the outer walls and a pile of rubble remained of the theater. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The restoration was initiated with the goal of faithfully reproducing the Phoenix “as it was and where it was,”<\/strong> and the project was entrusted to a team of experts and specialized companies. Berti Flooring’s Choice – Excellence and Precision<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2002<\/strong>, with the reconstruction of the theater now well underway, Berti Pavimenti<\/strong> was commissioned to create the floors of the Sale Apollinee<\/strong>, rooms of great historical and artistic significance. The task assigned to our company involved the exact<\/strong> reproduction of the original floors, following historical decorative patterns<\/strong> and using fine woods<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Grand Return of the Phoenix – Reopening in 2003<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On December 14, 2003<\/strong>, after seven years of construction, the Gran Teatro La Fenice<\/strong> was finally reopened to the public with a concert conducted by Maestro Riccardo Muti<\/strong>. Two days earlier, on December 12, 2003<\/strong>, the Berti family attended a special evening to thank the companies that had contributed to the revival of the theater. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That evening, rather than following the music, Giancarlo Berti<\/strong> and his team lingered to observe the newly completed floor<\/strong>, admiring the result of their work: a parquet floor identical to the original one, perfectly integrated into the elegance of the Phoenix.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
