PARQUET<\/strong>: more than a return to the future we return to information!<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The topic of parquet flooring<\/strong> was recently covered by Corriere della Sera<\/strong>: in the October 15, 2011 edition on page 37, you can read an article titled, “Parquet, back to the future<\/a>.”<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is pleasing to see wood flooring given prominence within a nationally circulated newspaper. What we are less pleased about is seeing the topic being covered by highlighting incorrect data. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In particular, there are two points that should be clarified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When discussing the Types of parquet<\/strong>, a distinction is made between Traditional Parquet (solid wood) and Prefinished Parquet<\/a>. In relation to prefinished parquet<\/strong>, a serious error is reported regarding the thicknesses of the noble layer. A prefinished consists of solid wood strips that form the top layer of each element called the walking or noble layer, resting on a more substantial layer that acts as a backing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To be able to talk about Parquet<\/strong>, according to when stated in the UNI EN 13489 standards, it is necessary that the noble layer of the floor has a thickness of not less than 2.5mm. If the thickness of the noble wood is less than 2.5mm, we cannot speak of parquet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another erroneous advice is reported regarding the compatibility of parquet and wood floors with underfloor heating<\/strong> systems. As indicated both by the relevant standards and in the FAQ section on our website(Is parquet compatible with underfloor heating system?<\/a>) wood floors have no contraindications if an underfloor heating system has been provided. All prefinished are suitable for installation on underfloor heating systems, because they have a multi-layer backing etched into several parts, which allows heat to spread evenly, over the entire surface. Thanks to technological innovation, the construction techniques used for parquet flooring make it possible to rely on a product that maintains its stability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All this is not to be controversial, but just to point out inaccuracies and allow the consumer to have a clear view and knowledge of parquet flooring.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
