How to choose parquet flooring
The diverse world of parquet flooring offers many solutions. However, it is not always easy to choose the “right” one. To get a clear idea of which parquet floor to choose and be satisfied with the end result, follow our advice.
How to choose parquet flooring?
It depends. The appeal of parquet floors is undeniable. A “warm” wood covering immediately makes one feel at home, conveys a sense of coziness and, at the same time, elegance. Even the most “rustic” solutions, in fact, boast that plus that does not go unnoticed. However, knowing which parquet flooring to choose and how to choose parquet flooring is not super simple.
It is the fact that it is made of wood that gives parquet its unquestionable malice. A living, rich, unique material. Knowing how to select the “right” wood for parquet is very important. Thanks to its aesthetic and functional characteristics, parquet can boast wide acclaim. It is beautiful, yes, but not only that. Cleaning parquet and maintaining it are quick and easy actions. In addition, wood provides good acoustic and thermal insulation-all features that have elevated it to a solution of excellence.
Laying parquet flooring as a piece of furniture
Laying geometry is important because it conveys character and personality to the room, making it the true protagonist of the home, needless to deny. Laying geometry means the pattern that results from the combination of the individual elements that make up the floor. The final appearance of the parquet depends on several factors: size of the modules and wood planks, choice of geometric or non-geometric designs, the inventiveness of juxtaposition. Which parquet floor to choose for the rooms in one’s home also means shedding light on this more purely aesthetic aspect.
Light or dark parquet?
Parquet, then, is a calling card, an elegant and refined solution, but–how to choose the right parquet color for your home? For a room that is small in size and cannot boast of natural lighting, it is best to go for a light-colored parquet such as, for example, maple or a color-varnished oak. Of course, wood in dark shades has always been a cult favorite. It gives character and personality to the room. That with shades ranging from caramel red to golden brown, on the other hand, reflects the search for sophistication and conveys light to the room. Finally, gray. This is a color increasingly in demand for its uniqueness, in which sophistication and modernity are blended.

Wood color and other characteristics to know
Many factors must be taken into account when choosing which wood to use. Characteristics of the environment, one’s own aesthetic taste, and last but not least, cost. Among the main woods used are:
Oak: with a honey-yellow hue; has excellent durability, so perfect for any environment;
Wenge: with an intense dark coloring, it is a very hard and durable wood. Precisely because of its peculiar coloring, it is best not to use it for cramped and dimly lit rooms.

Beware of… behavior in choosing parquet flooring!
Parquet has a behavior that can vary. In fact, all wood species tend to change tone and color with the passage of time. It means that certain factors may be responsible for its, albeit slight, aesthetic changes. In particular, exposure to light and humidity (which are reflected with changes in its coloration) and room temperature (with special attention to the possible presence of underfloor heating) should be taken into account when choosing a parquet floor . Again, being able to rely on a selection of ad hoc parquet types is desirable for a long-lasting result.
Prefinished or solid wood: which parquet to choose?
Once the needs of the room in which it will be laid are clear, the choice of parquet is oriented toward two types. We have prefinished parquet, with strips composed of one or more layers of wood (usually birch, ash, fir or poplar) glued on top of each other or in different orientations, covered with a top layer of wood essence or species (more valuable wood); or solid wood parquet, without layering and, therefore, with strips composed entirely of the chosen wood species.
