Elizabeth II turns 60 years in reign: celebrations at Windsor Castle

Elizabeth II of England on June 2 celebrates 60 years as queen, the second to reach 60 years of reign in the history of the British monarchy. In fact, so much time has passed since way back on June 2, 1952 when Her Majesty Elizabeth was crowned in a magnificent ceremony at Westminster Abbey, a true Christian Coronation.

The celebrating archbishop was firm in maintaining the traditional medieval character to be followed during the investiture service. Nevertheless, it was the first time that TV was allowed to participate and broadcast footage of a ritual that has become a piece of contemporary history.

After the Coronation, she and Philip moved to Buckingham Palace in central London. Like many of her predecessors, however, she can be found spending much of her time at Windsor Castle, located in West London, which is considered home proper by all British monarchs. Queen Elizabeth II often chooses to spend many weekends of the year at the castle, using it for both state and private meetings.

Berti had the opportunity to reconstruct the inlaid parquet floor decorated with designs and friezes of the Royal House, respecting the original floor that was destroyed by fire in November 1992. Laser machining has always distinguished Berti’s worldwide prestige, taking advantage of the cutting-edge design techniques of Berti Pavimenti Legno’s technical department. The company, in addition to being the first to use laser technology applied to inlay, now has advanced computer systems, sophisticated production machinery that allow it to offer a wide range of solutions and to create highly personalized wood floors, a mirror of the personality of those who inhabit them. Different ambits, but very versatile. Even for those who do not have a royal residence like Elizabeth.

In the run-up to Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, which will culminate in London this coming June 2-5, many brands have chosen to celebrate the British sovereign by dedicating various initiatives to the event, from jewelry collections that pick up on the crown theme to fine spirits: the tourism sector itself has organized itself by creating themed stays.

Below is Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s letter of thanks to Giancarlo Berti for reconstructing the floor of the Crimson Drawing Room at Windsor Castle:
